frequently asked questions

  • Q. What is Behaviour Support?

Behaviour support focuses on understanding why behaviours occur and supporting people to develop safer, more effective ways to communicate their needs. The goal is to improve quality of life, increase skills, and reduce the need for restrictive practices using ethical, evidence-based strategies.

  • Q. Who can access Behaviour Support?

Behaviour support is available to NDIS participants of all ages who experience behaviours of concern that impact their safety, wellbeing, relationships, or participation in daily life. A formal diagnosis is not required to receive behaviour support.

Yes. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, including individuals living at home, attending school, or residing in SIL and SDA settings.

    • Development of an Interim or Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan

    • Collaboration with families, carers, schools, and providers

    • Ongoing review, training, and support

  • Q. What is a Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA)?

An FBA is an assessment that looks at:

    • What behaviours are occurring

    • When and where they happen

    • What triggers or maintains them

    • What the person may be communicating through behaviour

This helps guide practical, individualised support strategies.

  • Q. What is the difference between an Interim and a Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan?

    • Comprehensive BSP: A detailed, long-term plan developed following an FBA, outlining proactive strategies, skill development, and response strategies.
